The Origin of Roses

Roses (scientific name: Rosa) are a plant species belonging to the Rosaceae family, originating from the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, particularly Europe, North America, and Asia. According to ancient documents, roses appeared about 35 million years ago and were domesticated by humans over 5,000 years ago.

The ancient Egyptians grew roses to make perfumes and for religious rituals. In ancient Greece and Rome, roses symbolized love and beauty, often associated with the goddess Aphrodite or Venus. Meanwhile, in the East, roses also appear in poetry, painting, and traditional festivals as a noble flower.

Today, thanks to breeding processes, roses now have thousands of varieties with diverse colors and shapes, adapting to many different climatic conditions worldwide.
